Think I need to source a higher-quality avatar pic – TweetDeck has shown me how low-res it is. Pixels a go-go… [tawalker]

Ah, that’s a bit more like it: if you view my Twitter profile in TweetDeck, you now get a non-pixellated avatar image. Yaay me. [tawalker]
My avatar image is me, half-hiding behind a Tom Yocky electric mountain dulcimer, with a light- and lens-flare effect courtesy of The GIMP. [tawalker]

Wonder if we’ll be having the Armistice Day 2min silence in our office at 11am? We usually do. [tawalker]
Yes, we had the two-minute silence at 11am – I just wasn’t sure, as they didn’t announce it earlier. Lest we forget. [tawalker]
I’ve said it before, but surfing over a sub-3G-speed mobile data connection, shows just how bloated much of the Web of 2009 has become. [tawalker]
Wondering whether to get PPP-over-Bluetooth working between my Eee 701 and N95, or bottle out and buy the full version of JoikuSpot. [tawalker]
JoikuSpot, BTW, is an S60 app which turns your mobile phone into a 3G-WiFi gateway (basically, a WiFi hotspot wherever you are). [tawalker]
Apparently, this train has free WiFi, but I can’t connect yet. Anyway, right now I’d trade it for a table bigger than a postage stamp. [tawalker]
Abandoning attempts to use my netbook in the space I have here (will post pic later); anyway, I’ll need the battery power today. [tawalker]

In London for a tech seminar. I like the place, but living some way away from it, it feels a bit weird when I visit. "Country mouse"? [tawalker]
Wish I could report more about what I’ve been hearing and seeing at this tech seminar; suffice it to say, I feel quite cutting-edge today… [tawalker]
Using the Internet via 3G mobile on a train, is a bit like guerilla warfare: quick bursts of activity while you have the opportunity. [tawalker]
wonders how he will work his way through the "Flight Of The Conchords" DVD box set, which his great workmates got him for his birthday. [tawalker]
For the first time in a LONG time, I’m having to archive some files to DVDs, because the Mac’s hard drive is filling up rapidly. [tawalker]
Day off work today, so starting by taking Naomi to school. [tawalker]
In case anyone didn’t know: Mac OS X Leopard can automount ext3-formatted drives. If you’ve no idea what that means, you don’t need it. [tawalker]
Enjoying a nice rooibos tea, if not the soggy grey November afternoon outside. Mind you, I’m not outside, so the latter is a moot point. [tawalker]
Ah: the Mac seems to automount the ext3 drive as read-only. (Also, I think it can only do this as I just installed fuse-ext2.) [tawalker]
Listening to The News Quiz on Radio 4 in the car, whilst Joy does a piano lesson. Rory Bremner is on this week: wonder if he’s on Twitter? [tawalker]
Next time Lord Mandelson is introduced on the Today programme, can someone play back some spooky sound FX (thunder, organ, wolf howl, etc.)? [tawalker]
Waking up bleary-eyed, after a late evening of helping Joy with an "orchestral" arrangement in Logic, of one of her compositions. Worth it. [tawalker]
Naomi: "I like it when the leaves fall off, because that means it’s nearly winter and I LIKE SNOW." #naomisayings [tawalker]
Watching the trees fly past the window (problem is, it’s the window of our house), and realising why certain mammals hibernate. [tawalker]
Just worked out why the Mac wasn’t letting me write to that ext3-formatted drive: I hadn’t set the permissions properly. You know, UNIX. Ah. [tawalker]
There is rain outside that window so intense, it looks like mist. And we’re due to go out in it within half an hour or so. A shower, I hope. [tawalker]
The rain WAS just a shower after all (just as well), so we didn’t drown this afternoon. [tawalker]
The wisdom is that Christmas tree decorations "should" all be the same 1-2 colours. Myself: I prefer a mad mix of items from over the years. [tawalker]
How can I get to watch the "super-scary" Doctor Who special tomorrow evening, without a certain young lady (4) seeing? Ah, the iPlayer… [tawalker]
Just learned that not only is there to be a 4th "Shrek" film, but John Lithgow is back (woohoo!), and Paul McCartney will be a guest voice. [tawalker]
No, that wasn’t lack of enthusiasm for Macca in "Shrek 4" – I just ran out of space for a "yaay"… [tawalker]
I’m intrigued: where is that branch of Yo! Sushi that the map here indicates is in the far north of Scotland? [tawalker]
Must be the map – the furthest-north in the UK branch of Yo! Sushi is Aberdeen, but the map seems to be showing Wick or John’O'Groats. [tawalker]
Another year older? Check. Another year wiser? Er, can I get back to you on that?
Hoping the afternoon’s logistics go as smoothly as possible – there are all sorts of things which could go amiss, but hopefully won’t. [tawalker]
Eric Boswell, composer of the Christmas song "Little Donkey", is apparently better known for amusing songs about his native NE England. [tawalker]
With Joy. She’s recording her piano in a proper studio (Pro Tools, multi-mikes, the lot). I’m aware of how much studio stuff I don’t know. [tawalker]
Just saw a TV advert for "Invizimals". I suppose it had to happen: Augmented Reality comes to the Sony PSP. [tawalker]
A fortnight of very late nights is finally catching up with me. Will probably be out colder than a dog’s nose soon. [tawalker]
